1 John 1:7

I would love to say that once we’re saved, Christians will live sinless lives here on earth, but I’d be lying if I did. Reality is Christians will occasionally sin. I know this because God’s Word says so in 1 John 1, and sadly, it’s my reality. Occasionally sinning and walking in darkness aren’t the same thing. To walk in darkness is to live a sinful life, that is, sin is part of your daily life and you’re neither repentant, nor relying on the Spirit to fight its hold on you.

To walk in the light is to rely on the Spirit to truly be like Christ. It doesn’t mean we will not ever sin, rather, when we sin, our spirit is grieved, we repent with the help of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit comforts us based on the fact that the shed blood of Christ cleanses us of our sin so we can keep walking with Jesus.

Dear Christian, do you repent when you sin and rely on the Spirit to keep walking with Jesus in the light?
