In many professions, unless one has the right qualifications, one cannot work in the profession. Governing bodies and educational or training institutions ensure that people have the right knowledge and are trained well to meet the standards required of their profession. None of us would go to a doctor unless they’ve undergone the necessary training and passed the required exams.
The Bible tells us that only one who is approved by God and is unashamed of Jesus can rightly understand and teach God’s truth, which is the Bible. This approval is only possible through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Earthly qualifications are insufficient to do God’s work and teach God’s Word unless one is qualified by God Himself. We need to humble ourselves for God to raise us up, unlike the world where we need to rise up ourselves.
