It’s not uncommon for kids to disrespect their parents, or worse, abuse and mistreat them. Sin is at the heart of such ungodly behaviour, and the absence of God means such kids will continue to treat their parents poorly into their adulthood. It is no surprise then that such kids grow up to be adults with lots of problems.
God commands children to honour their parents, and when they obey Him, He promises to bless them with a good long life. Unless a person has a relationship with Jesus and have His Holy Spirit dwelling in us as a result, it is impossible to honour one’s parents as the LORD commands. Children who love Jesus and honour their parents out of love for Him, are indeed blessed by the LORD!
