In this world, each person is expected to look after themselves. Those who work and earn a living, look down on those who are unwilling to work hard to meet their basic needs, and don’t always look kindly on those who are unable to support themselves. The unfortunate are at the mercy of charities and those who give, but it’s sadly not enough.
God’s people know we need to work hard to earn our daily bread, but Jesus also teaches us to love one another and care for one another in practical ways. Ultimately, however, it is not we who meet our own needs, but God who graciously provides for us because of His love for us in Christ! When we rely on the Spirit to live righteous lives that reflect Christ and do good that the LORD wants us to do, He will meet all our needs!
Dear Christian, are you reflecting Christ’s love by being His hands and feet to practically bless others?
